WMHTI's International Cruise Familiarization and Learning Program provided participants with an enriching opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the global cruise and hospitality industry through a unique combination of learning, travel, and experiential activities in Shanghai, China and Jeju Island, South Korea.

Aboard the Adora Magic City, trainees were introduced to various aspects of cruise ship operations and hospitality standards through guided learning sessions, industry discussions, and shipboard familiarization activities. These experiences allowed participants to better understand the professional environment, service culture, and operational excellence expected within the international cruise industry.
The program also offered valuable opportunities for participants to observe world-class hospitality, tourism, and guest service practices while exploring international destinations. Trainees engaged in meaningful cultural immersion and destination management studies through curated shore excursions across two countries:
In Jeju Island, South Korea: Participants experienced the balance of cultural heritage and tourism logistics during a peaceful visitation to the historic Yakcheonsa Temple, followed by an observation of vibrant, modern consumer hospitality trends along the bustling Yeondong Pedestrian Street.

In Shanghai, China: Trainees explored global tourism branding and landmark operations at the world-famous waterfront, The Bund, and observed world-class entertainment production and crowd management during a spectacular performance of the ERA Acrobatic Show. Additionally, they engaged in a significant historical and cultural study through a visit to the Site of the First CPC National Congress, gaining insights into China's heritage preservation and cultural tourism infrastructure.

Through this blend of cultural immersion and exposure to diverse environments, trainees developed a deeper appreciation for global standards, intercultural awareness, adaptability, and professionalism—qualities that are highly valued in both maritime and hospitality careers.

One of the highlights of the program was the opportunity to interact with industry professionals and gain insights from experienced practitioners, helping participants better understand career pathways and the realities of working in a global setting.

More than just a familiarization trip, the program served as a platform for personal growth, professional development, and industry readiness. It encouraged participants to broaden their perspectives, build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and develop a mindset geared toward continuous learning and excellence.
Through initiatives such as the International Cruise Familiarization and Learning Program, WMHTI remains committed to creating transformative experiences that bridge academic learning with real-world industry exposure.

By providing aspiring professionals with meaningful opportunities to learn, explore, and engage with the global cruise and hospitality sector, WMHTI continues to prepare future talents for successful careers at sea and beyond.
